employees.Job Summary:Westat is seeking research assistants to join
our multidisciplinary team of researchers and program evaluators
focused on mental health and substance use research and training
projects. This role involves project management, communicating with
clients, executing study plans, overseeing data collection and
analysis, developing environmental scans, and contributing to
project reports and publications.This opportunity is a hybrid work
arrangement (1 day on-site).Job Responsibilities:
- Support all stages of research from study design through data
collection, management, analysis, and reporting.
- Conduct environmental scans and literature reviews.
- Partner with client and subcontractor data collection efforts
which may involve administering surveys, interviews, site visits,
observation protocols, legislative research, and/or acquiring
administrative data.
- Analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
- Assist with producing reports and manuscripts for publication
in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participate in presentations at conferences and other
meetings.
- Coordinate and lead project management tasks such as taking
comprehensive meeting notes, coordinating internal and external
meetings, and communicating directly with clients on a supervised
basis.
- Lead webinars, including coordinating with panelists and
clients, developing marketing materials, and managing
logistics.Basic Qualifications:
- Cover letter submitted with application.
- A bachelor's degree in social sciences, public health, or a
related field and 0-2 years of related experience.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research
methods.
- Experience analyzing and interpreting data.
- Demonstrated writing skills, including ability to conduct
literature reviews for scientific reports.
- Experience creating research-driven and visually engaging
content, including reports, tables, graphs, and presentation slides
using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Preferred
Qualifications:
- Experience with programming for data analysis (such as SAS,
SPSS, or R), Zoom webinars, and social media marketing.Other

- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Detail oriented
